Brockington and The History Workshop Help to Preserve and Interpret Newly Discovered Battlefield

Our team (Eric Poplin, Carol Poplin, Paige Wagoner, and Inna Moore) is assisting the Cultural and Heritage Museums of York County, SC preserve and interpret the newly discovered location of the Revolutionary War Battle of Huck’s Defeat (see ) Fought at Williamson’s Plantation on July 12 1780, this defeat of Provincial British troops and militiamen by Patriot militiamen demonstrated that the Patriots could fight successfully against their better trained adversaries and helped revitalize the campaign for freedom in South Carolina. We are preparing the NRHP nomination for the Williamson’s Plantation Battlefield and an interpretative plan for the battlefield within the CHM’s Historic Brattonsville living history site near McConnells, SC.
