As part of the Brockington Oral History Program, oral historians Scott Kitchens and Charles Philips attended the national conference of the Oral History Association (OHA) from October 4-7, 2017, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their involvement included a poster presentation for a project conducted in St. Johns County, Florida.
This year’s conference focused on using oral history as outreach for engaging audiences. A series of presentations focused on oral history as a means to reach out to historically disenfranchised groups to give them a voice. Other themes included oral history in podcasting, oral history in classroom teaching, academia and oral history, and the new OHA Oral History Metadata Synchronizer.
