Brockington Archaeologists Participating in Important Pottery Dating Research

Pottery Dating, Research

Brockington archaeologists are working with researchers from the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, providing samples of Deptford pottery recovered during recent excavations for additional dating, along with several other sites in the state. Ongoing research efforts to identify striations within the broad Deptford category are promising, and the archaeological record at sites such as 38DR245 at The Ponds will play an important role in that work. This information will help us understand more about cord-marked pottery and the Late Woodland period in South Carolina.
